As hard as it is to believe, John Paul DeJoria, CEO and co-founder of John Paul Mitchell Systems, has neverâ¦that's right NEVERâ¦been honored by the salon industry! He has received awards and nods worldwide for his charitable work but has yet to be acknowledged by the salon world for his contributions.
The members of Intercoiffure America/Canada decided to right that wrong and gave him the VISIONARY OF THE YEAR AWARD at the most recent Trend Luncheon held this past Monday at the Waldorf Hotel in New York City.
"Corporations can and should change the world for the better," he says. "We have the perspective to leave the world a better place for our having been there."

"Giving back is the new black," he said to me after the presentation.
"We are just renters on this planet and it's important to leave the
world in better shape for those who follow." I grabbed my video camera
and asked him how salon owners and stylists can and should follow in
his footsteps and do more for their own communities and the worldâ¦.
