Lee Rizzuto Jr of Conair Corp has been doing his part for the environment for years. More than ten years ago he initiated a campaign encouraging employees to use emails in lieu of paper mail. Beyond the speed of delivery and response efficiency Lee already realized how this can be a long term benefit to the environment.

Conair Corp sends and receives more than 250,000 emails every day. Imagine if those emails had been letters?
According to Conservatree, one tree makes 8,333 sheets of typical 20 lb. weight copy paper. If we assume one letter sent to one recipient would consume at least one sheet of paper (that’s being very conservative), one tree = 8,333 emails.

What does this mean? Conair alone has saved 75,000 trees over the last 10 years. Rizzuto estimates that the number may actually be up to 100% greater with the multitude of company reports that are no longer printed and viewed on line.

"We have proven that you can run your business more efficiently and make a significant contribution back to the environment at the same time. I have encouraged many businesses to follow this example. Perhaps someday we can be paperless." To thank Lee for this heads up, we sent an email!
