There were A LOT  of great shows this season and I want to share with you some of my favorites.  I particularly loved the 3.1 Phillip Lim show…not just because it offered great fashion and hair, but because I spent a lot of time behind the scenes, feeling very much a part the whole process.

This very special show was held near the tents in the magnificent Celeste Bartos Forum at the New York Public Library.  Backstage opened 3 hours before the schedule 6 p.m. show time and was soon very crowded with hair and make up pros.  Lead stylist, Odile Gilbert, immediately began working with her team of 17 Aveda hair professionals.   43 models eventually showed up…some very late.

The curly looks (there were some straight styles in the show) were quite beautiful, but complicated and time consuming.  Tiny sections were twisted and spiraled around a very small curling iron.   Once cooled, most of the hair was pulled up to the back or to the crown for a regal, almost "old world" silhouette.  Small sections were left out for a softer, more feminine feel.

The hair (and fashions) was quite well received, earning lots of applause and high marks from all in the audience.
