There are salon openings, and there are SALON OPENINGS. Last night we were treated to one of the most spectacular salon events of all time. Ric Pipino opened Pipino 57 on 57th Street in NYC with fanfare and fun. Paparazzi lined the red carpet to grab some shots of Ric and some of his celebrity friends including Kelly Rutherford, Alison Brie, Bridget Moynahan and Whitney Port.
What makes this salon even more special is that it will now be Wella Professionals first North American flagship salon. Rebecca Romijn, one of Ric’s clients and an attendee at the opening, has also partnered with Wella Professionals to launch the new Care & Styling collections that were seen at the stations and in the retail area of the glam salon. In celebration of the salon and the partnership, Wella Professionals is making a donation to the American Red Cross Japan Relief.
"I'm a long-time Wella Professionals fan and user,” Ric told me after the ribbon cutting. “I carry everything at our customized color bar and I rely on Wella's new Care & Styling products to cater to both the artistic expertise of the professional, and the everyday styling necessity of our clients."
The salon itself is breathtaking. Set on the ground floor of a luxury high rise on 57th Street just off Park Avenue, the multi level, 3700 square foot salon features 16 cutting stations,12 color stations, eyebrow specialists, tanning artists and interesting splashes of color throughout.
