Red is hot. "Mad Men" is hot. And that means the look of fierce redhead Christina Hendricks, who plays sexy, smart secretary Joanie on the show, is in high demand for clients going rouge. According to celeb colorist and Joico Hair Color spokesperson Beth Minardi, combining a copper red base with dimensional lowlights is the modern way to recreate Joanie's sassy shade. Here's her formula.

-For clients with a natural level 4, 5 or 6 (light brown, lightest brown or dark blonde), Minardi recommends a Joico Vero K-PAK Color base formula of 1 ½-oz 7FOR + ½ oz 8G + 2 oz 20-volume Veroxide Developer.

-Next, process and then lowlight select strands with a Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome demi-permanent formula of 1 oz RC8 + ½ oz G8 + ½ oz RO/really orange + 2 oz Vero Chrome Activator Crème Developer.

"Reds really stand out when hair is as shiny and healthy as possible, which is why Joico Vero K-PAK Color is a great choice," says Minardi. "All of the Joico color formulas contain Quadramine Complex technology that actually reconstructs hair as it colors."
