At London Fashion Week, avant-garde designer Charlie Le Mindu debuted his new Spring/Summer 2011 collection and proved that hair is not just for the head. He teamed with hair extensions company, Hairdreams, to make a splash, creating extravagant designs tailored primarily from real hair, and parts of the eclectic collection have already been reserved for pop star and style icon Lady Gaga.
His newest collection is inspired by the glamorous and eccentric lifestyle of Los Angeles. Pink Cadillacs, pink champagne and sparkling jewelry transformed the catwalk into world famous Sunset Boulevard. It was the perfect backdrop for the clothing, which was accented with leopard patterns, soft flowing fabric and clear plastic elements.
"Hair and creativity are my passions, and I want that to shine through not to only my hairstyles or wigs but also in the outfits that all have the chance to become something really special," says Le Mindu. "The concept of ‘Haute Coiffure,’ like in Couture, focuses on the highest quality materials and uniqueness of creativity, so I decided to use Hairdreams hair.”
The creative teamwork flows both ways, with Le Mindu providing several pieces for a recent Hairdreams trend photo shoot. You can check out the results for yourself in November, when Hairdreams releases its Trend Collection 2011.
