I wouldn’t have missed the opportunity to meet one of the industry’s most respected icons who’s worked with some of the biggest names in fashion as featured in Vogue, Vanity Fair, W, Elle, and notably last year’s Louis Vuitton ads featuring the collaboration of Marc Jacobs and Richard Prince.

Oribe did not disappoint. Having flown in from his own salon in Miami to conduct a hands-on demo, he was sweet, humble, down-to-earth, funny and absolutely charming. He then mingled with the crowd of some of Hollywood’s top hairstylists that included Chris McMillan, Tom Brophy, Kim Vo, Michael O’Rourke, Ethan Thomas, Philip Carreon of Estilo, Hector Rodriguez of Cush and Department of Consumer Affairs President, Jerry R. Tyler, one of my previous educators from my early years.
It was a truly rare evening for all of us to be gathered there at the same time. Over cocktails we had the opportunity to share salon stories as peers, clearly illustrating that even though we each have distinct, individual styles, for the most part we’ve all been through so many similar situations and experiences.
It was certainly a beauty buzz like no other!
