From Nicole Kidman to Heidi Klum to Claire Danes, smokey eyes and pale lips were the red carpet winners at last nights Emmy Awards.
Nicole Kidman was queen of the Emmy’s in a white and blue Antonio Berardi gown. Her simple yet stunning smooth hairstyle perfectly complemented her smokey eyes and matte nude lips. I mean, isn’t it time this woman received an award for best red carpet style?
Another winner was Heidi Klum. Everyone’s favorite Project Runway host looked radiant in a sky blue Alexandre Vauthier gown with a sassy Angelina Jolie thigh high slit. Her Farrah inspired hairstyle was sexy and simple and worked effortlessly with her peachy cheeks and smokey eyes.
Also sashaying down the Emmy red carpet painted in dark eyes and nude lips were Claire Danes, Lucy Liu and January Jones – all stunning!
Bucking the nude lip trend for bright red lips were Julianne Moore in yellow Dior, Sophia Vergara in blue Zuhair Murad and Christina iHendricks in Christian Siriano - all were perfection. And kudos to Sophia Vergara and her mile long eyelashes! I mean, this woman can pile on the makeup and somehow she makes it classy and sexy. I love her.
Another shout-out goes to Kelly Osborne. Just when I was getting tired of her purple hair she pairs it with a Zac Posen purple gown and berry red lips – bravo! I guess she can have another 15 minutes of purple hair.
Of course, not everyone looked fabulous.
Although I loved Jessica Lange’s tangerine gown and tousled Veronica Lake hair style, the sunglasses on the red carpet had to go. Perhaps she had tired eyes, but that’s what concealer is for, girlfriend.
Julianna Margulies may be the good wife, but her skinhead hairstyle was headed to divorce court. With her gorgeous Giambattista Valli ball gown, she needed bigger hair to balance the dress. And the heavy eye makeup did her no favors – a softer touch would have been much better.
Finally, my worst hair and make-up of the evening goes to Ashley Judd. With a helmet head of a beehive and pasty make-up, she looked like a wax dummy. For someone that used to be so fresh and fab, this was a big letdown. Better luck next time Miss Judd.
