YouTube is no exception when it comes to the rule – “size matters.” Naturally, the site asks you to create a cover image as well as a profile picture on your page - and well, they better be enticing or you can kiss that ‘view’ you almost had goodbye.  After all, this is the first thing your fellow YouTube(ers) will see when they go to your page and as we all know, first impressions are everything. Your cover image should be at least 2560 x 1440 pixels and your profile picture should be at least 250 x 250 pixels in size. This will ensure that your image quality is the cream of the crop!

When it comes to YouTube, your brand’s image is established by the quality of the videos you share and wrong sizing can be a real deal breaker. Your video will be uploaded and displayed in the form of a thumbnail and when choosing an image for this, I always say – custom is best. They should maintain a 16:9 aspect ratio, and be at least 1,280 x 720 pixels in size. This will ensure that you have the highest HD quality (aka – people will be captivated to watch them).

While sizing matters across all platforms, YouTube really is the visual king in the social world. Make sure you aren’t missing the mark when it comes to putting out the 'crème de la crème' of content.
