Stars in Hollywood are debuting shorter tresses, and the trend is bound to catch on fast, say Pirri Brothers, Piero and Luigi, owners of the Pirri Hair Group in Greenwich, Connecticut. “You must take your client’s personal style, face shape and hair texture into consideration,” say the brothers. These tips from the Pirri brothers can help determine which ’do best fits your clients.

Demi-Bob: For clients with a defined jaw, compliment it with a demi-bob that hits right at the jawbone. For round faces keep the bob closer to shoulder’s length and avoid going too short. For an oval face, add a fringe. As see on celebs like Cameron Diaz and Ginnifer Goodwin, this look works best with straight and slightly wavy hair.

Modern Pixie: The pixie works well on petite faces with fine features like celebs Ashlee Simpson and Michelle Williams. Tiny bangs will further open up the face. If your clients have an oval face, razor cut according to their face shape, trying not to elongate it. If your clients have a round face shape, opt for the demi-bob for a slimming effect.
