Jennifer Aniston, famous for “The Rachel” haircut she sported on long-running sitcom, “Friends”, is the new spokeswoman for Cambridge-based Living Proof hair products. She will be responsible for developing the business, "using her understanding of what drives our culture and hair trends" and is called a “co-owner” on the company’s website.  On Facebook Now: Jennifer Aniston Signs with Haircare Line

After this news was posted to MODERN SALON’S Facebook page (and at the time of this writing), the Aniston announcement had received 403 “Likes”. For years, women have emulated Aniston’s impeccably groomed style.  The majority of comments from hairdressers on Facebook were in favor and gave her the thumbs-up.

But if Facebook offered an ‘Unlike” button, we suspect it would have been clicked on by a number of stylists who are unimpressed by Aniston’s hair cred.  The implication that because her hair looks great, she understands product development, hairdressing or hair rubbed some fans the wrong way.

Brittney Nelson: If only I had a dollar every time someone sat down and said, ‘I want Jennifer Aniston hair.’

Gretchen Philips:  I would love to get my hands in her hair. I assume it is on the fine side but she has plenty of it. Just to be able to tell my clients that not everyone can have her hair! At least 2-3 people a week come in asking for color like hers (and of course with a picture)!

Kara Merritss Ebersole: She is such a timeless beauty. Always so gorgeous...

Polly Quinn:  You will be great Jen, you are and have always been gorgeous, with gorgeous hair, so wholesome, you will be great! Jen may be pampered, but she pays attention, too bad Brad didn't!

Carly Zoppy: So what she didn't put years behind a chair she's a celebrity she has access to the very best knowledge of hair care and latest trends before any regular hair stylist does ..I think she is very qualified for this...

From the new release on the company’s website:

“"What caught my attention about Living Proof is the company’s unique approach to hair care – using scientific technologies to offer women actual proof in a bottle rather than hoping for results. I’ve tried so many hair care products,” Aniston said in a news release announcing the collaboration. “Over the years, my hair has been subjected to everything … blow dryers, flatirons, curling irons, color, extensions, you name it. My hair has taken a serious beating. After using these products, I felt like I finally discovered a solution that works every day. I could not be more excited to share Living Proof with the world.”
