The Impulsive Buyer: the client who schedules a somewhat last-minute appointment for a radical cut or color treatment, based on a style they spotted--and fell in love with--recently, often on a celebrity.
Every stylist has at least one in their client list and staying on top of the latest celebrity hair trends can help you keep pace when they're lusting after a hot new style and how it might work for their hair. A graduated bob? Everyone from Ciara to January Jones is rocking it! What's a braided undercut? Great for summer, basically updated corn rows on one side.
Here are a few celeb trends spotted recently that you may want to keep an eye out for and do some experimenting of your own before trying out on or suggesting to a client.
Worn By: Kristen Stewart, Jennifer Aniston, Ke$ha, Cara Delevingne
A more practical substitute for the popular side-shaven look, the braided undercut combines the idea of classic, tight corn rows with trendy french braids and a deep side part. Depending on how dramatic of a look you're aiming for, two or three sections are braided on one side, allowing the rest of the hair in front to be swept to the opposite shoulder with a deep side part -- or to kick it up a notch, try experimenting with edgy updos with a braided undercut component.
Bandanas and Head Scarfs
Worn By: Khloe Kardashian, Andra Day, Rihanna, Nicole Richie
Who doesn't love the classic Rosie the Riveter look? A bright head scarf framing either a vintage or messy updo, with or without fringe, to recreate the timeless look is definitely hot right now, as well as a simple scarf tied at the crown (like Khloe's). Either look represents a fun and flirty, no-fuss summer style your client can easily recreate on her own for festivals or a day at the beach.
Worn By: Ciara, January Jones, Ashlee Simpson, Scarlett Johansson
Stylist Cesar Ramirez created Ciara's new crop earlier this summer, and it's been quite an inspiring adventure to see the different ways she has styled it for summer. While we love it when she goes sleek and chick, we've taken notice of the recent wave of extra voluminous and texturized bobs seen on the red carpet this season.
