East/West: Patrick McIvor & Diva Poulos

Busy, busy. In the Eastern corner this month is Patrick McIvor, who recently opened his own Patrick McIvor Color Studio in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, while at the same time working two days a week at the Cutler salon in Manhattan, as a Redken Performing Artist and as Artistic Director of Product Club. Out of the West comes Diva Poulos, owner of the Diva International Salon in San Francisco, and Core Team Member for Sebastian International. The dish from this month’s high-performance pros. —MM and AM

 

EAST

Favorite beverage: Nonalcoholic, Genmai cha green tea; with alcohol, a dirty martini.

Great getaways: For $$$, Jamaica; for free, our lake house.

Go-to pro products and tools: Redken Urban Experiment Grit Wax, my Product Club digital scale and Nitrol black gloves.

Latest restaurant: Wolee Oaks of Seoul.

Shoes and such: Tsubo [the bubble-soled shoes] and Ben Sherman jeans

On-screen favorites: “Unzipped,” the Isaac fashion film, and “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams.”

Music: Arctic Monkeys, Fratellis, the Shins, Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah, LCD Soundsystem and Coldplay.

Best tip: Non-monetary, from Frank Gambuzza: “There are only 100 pennies in every dollar.”

 

WEST

Diva Poulos

Favorite beverage: Chardonnay

Go-to pro products and tools: Sebastian Shaper Zero G and my Metropolis Wet Dry Iron.

Fave Restaurant: Perbaco in San Francisco.

Shoes and such: Any shoes with pointed toes; Antik Denim jeans.

On the screen: Harry Potter movies. My favorite TV show is “Iron Chef.”

Music: Electronic—Thievery Corporation

Mentor: Michael Polsinelli of the Sebastian Global Artistic Team.

Best tip: “Never stay in your own comfort zone.”

Great getaway: The peninsula of Greece.
