I chose beauty because: “I started riding/working with horses
when I was 10 years old. By the time I was 15, I was working as a
professional groomer on Arabian horses and traveling all over the
western U.S. Horse grooming fads for upper-level shows came and went,
but it quickly became obvious to me that I loved following them. It
wasn’t long before that love took me down the hair color aisle at my
local drugstore. By the time I was finished I could bleach and tone a
horse’s mane—no problem. Other trainers started asking me for color
advice.

Why I chose beauty: “When I was 16 years old I went shopping
with my mother and stopped at the beauty counter of Laura Mercier. I
started playing around with the rent shades and did my mom’s make-up
right there in the store. The real make-up artist noticed how well I
used the color and ended up giving me a job for various Laura Mercier
events.

Harley Davidson mechanic and motorcycle enthusiast, my girlfriend came
into the shop one afternoon with a new cut and color—at very first
glance, a light bulb went off. Not only was I blown away by how great
she looked, I was so impressed with the positive and glowing effect it
had on her, that it triggered me to want to learn more about the hair
