Personal Style: Ursula Stephen

Ursula Stephen, celebrity stylist and brand spokesperson for Motions (motionshair. com), created one of today’s most iconic hair styles—Rihanna’s bob. Ursula later transitioned the bob into the pixie and then made Rihanna blonde. Her creativity is endless, and her next move is without prediction.

My style: This week it has been very girly and fun! My style changes often depending on my mood and hair. One thing that remains constant is great bags and shoes!

Favorite products: My Brazilian Heat After Dark titanium flatiron and Rene Furterer dry shampoo. And my Motions Shine Enhancing Pomade—gotta keep those edges under control.

My hair: Right now it’s pretty long with heavy, blunt bangs—very chic and bohemian at the same time.

Best job as a hairdresser: I’ve had a couple. But the one that sticks out—a celebrity wedding in Martha’s Vineyard. It was just a great experience I will never forget.

Best part of my job: The different/interesting people I meet!

Toughest part about being a celebrity: In my opinion—losing your privacy. Some things you just want only your closest family and friends to know and sometimes not even them. That can be hard.

My perfect day: Involves lots of sleep and good food.

My mentor: Every hair stylist! We all have so much to teach/learn. It never ends.

If I hadn’t become a hairdresser I would have: It’s so hard to see myself doing something else. Whatever it is would have to do with me helping others and making them feel good, making them laugh.

I’m inspired by: Old movies, fashion and the environment.

My motto: Stay hungry.
