Ed Blum, co-owner of Makeovers Salon + Spa in Easton, MA, went directly to the source for his most recent trendspotting tour.  Blum went backstage in September during Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016, joining the L’Oreal World Tour as a Black Elite team member for L’Oreal Professionnel.

“What an amazing opportunity!” Blum says. “You can actually feel the edgy fashion and style vibes from my Milan photos. I can’t wait to translate these newest trends and techniques for our clients. “

Runway looks that inspired Blum included a lighter look makeup trend called Glo, wavy bobs and the strong brows and lips from Urban Decay.  And as for the fashion, “I was greatly inspired by the collection of Jean Paul Gaultier,” Blum adds.

Blum, who’s been in the salon business for 38 years, joined other L’Oreal team members including:  L’Oreal Professional’s Hairstyling Ambassador and Artistic Director at Haute Coiffure Francoise, Laurent Decreton;  Christine Smith of L’Oreal; and John Costanza, General Manager of L’Oreal Professionnel USA (“a pleasure to work with – and he never goes on world tours!”)

Blum’s team back at home appreciate his first-hand reporting on the looks that will be making their way into the mainstream.  “We always love to see the inspired technique that Ed brings back for Makeovers’ clients,” Kerry Martino Pickett, a manager at Makeovers Salon + Spa, says.
