Celebrity Stylist Mark Townsend shares how he styled Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen for the 2014 Met Ball, where they were nominees for Accessories Designer of the Year.

MET BALL 2014: Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen How-Tos

GET THE LOOK: MARY-KATE

Inspiration: Classic-yet-modern, vintage Ferre dress

Styling: Take hair and pull into a low bun. Secure with a few bobby pins throughout the bun.

Fun fact: Mary-Kate usually asks Mark only to use five or fewer hairpins, but for the Met Gala, she let him use 10!

GET THE LOOK: ASHLEY

Inspiration: Vintage Chanel; sleek, shiny and effortlessly chic

Styling:
STEP 1: Add a few drops of oil treatment to damp hair and blow-dry with a round brush.
STEP 2: Gather hair into a low ponytail and secure with an elastic.
STEP 3: To keep ponytail sleek, spray Oribe Soft Lacquer hairspray on a reusable mascara wand and run through the hair on the hairline and above the ears.
STEP 4: For added shine, spray a smoothing finishing spray on hair and through the ponytail.

Fun fact: To add contrast to Ashley's blonde locks, Ashley came up with the idea to tie a velvet ribbon around the base of the ponytail.
