Wella Professionals Celebrity Stylist Ambassador Andy LeCompte created one of MODERN’s favorite finishes for the 2014 VMA’s on Myley Cyrus who took home the Video of the Year award for “Wrecking Ball.”

Although everyone is buzzing about the dramatic use of her acceptance speech to raise awareness about homeless youth (see below), people are also acknowledging how well her hair stood up throughout the night.

LeCompte shares how he made her hair look so shiny and healthy:

Step 1: Start with freshly washed and conditioned hair using Wella Professionals LuxeOil Keratin Protect Shampoo and Keratin Restore Mask which helps hydrate, nourish and strengthen hair.

Step 2: Prime the hair by applying 1-2 pumps of Wella Professionals LuxeOil Reconstructive Elixir to the palms of your hands and distribute evenly throughout. Blow dry hair in all directions and alternate using your fingertips and a small ceramic brush

Step 3: Add a few more pumps of LuxeOil Reconstructive Elixir to your hands then begin shaping and sculpting hair into the desired look.

Step 4: Finish the look by spraying hair with Wella Professionals Light Oil Keratin Protection Spray leaving it smooth, shiny and red carpet ready.

MY FRIENDS PLACE:

Miley Cyrus is using her celebrity status and win of her Video of the Year award to bring attention to youth homelessness in the United States. Cyrus wiped away tears as she watched her friend Jesse, a homeless youth himself, accept the award on behalf of the this population and to direct people to learn more about “My Friend’s Place”, a homeless center for youth in Hollywood. A 50 second video spot is on her Miley Cyrus Facebook page where she reaches out for funds to support those in need. MODERN salutes Cyrus for using her fame for such a positive way…and for looking great while doing it!
