Women going for shorter looks or shaved sides is nothing new, but recently celebs and everyday folk have started sporting sneakier undercuts.

If anyone will bring light to a trend, it's a Kardashian; Kylie Jenner recently debuted her under-the-radar edge on Instagram.

TREND ALERT: Women's Undercut

But MODERN has been noticing this trend for a while. At Lollapalooza 2014, Andis hosted a Barber Authority booth in the Artists Village. One woman went in to get a carefully crafted design underneath her hair, and like wildfire, more and more women popped up in the booth to receive the same treatment on their hair.

More dramatic undercuts started appearing in 2012 and 2013 when a few brave celebrities started shaving one side of their head and left the other side long. For those not quite ready for such a big commitment, a tight braid (or two or three) could serve as a faux-undercut for a red carpet event or evening out.

Some of the undercut designs are pretty inspired and take a whole lot of skill to pull off. Plus, the you can show it off or hide it depending on your mood, an event, etc.
