The hottest hair trend seen at the 86th Annual Academy Awards was the pixie cut. A huge trend seen last year, it was just as hot this year. No one showcased the looks better than Oscars host Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron and Kristin Chenoweth.

Clad in a velvet navy and black Saint Laurent tuxedo, the comedian and host-extraordinaire Ellen Degeneres was in top form as she entertained Hollywood's elite at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. In order to transform the classic gamine pixie from pretty to powerful, Ellen's go-to hair stylist Laini Reeves of Starworks Artists used Rene Furterer products to help take the iconic pixie look to the next level. "They created a multi-textured look with great depth, while keeping her balayage blonde locks soft yet edgy," says Reeves.

GET THE LOOK:

To create Ellen's pixie hair cut, first spray hair with a volumizing conditioning spray at the roots. Use a blow-dryer while twisting the hair into small sections to create bend all over. Then, create volume at the crown and on the sides iwth a round brush. To finish, use Rene Furterer Modeling Paste. "I tousled her hair a bit with my fingers to enhance the texture and to adjust the shape," says Reeves. For more information about Rene Furterer products, visit www.renefurtererusa.com
