We've talked at length here about the rising trend of the silver fox embracing his greys, but what would you call Hollywood's young elite jumping on the silver bandwagon long before their roots begin to naturally make that transition?

Rihanna ditched her blonde locks last week in favor of her natural, ebony shade, with a slight twist: gradually tinted grey ends. The pop singer refers to her new shade as "Brr" on Instagram and declares "Grey is the new black! Blondies, it's quiet for y'all!" Another Instagram shot of her new tresses paired with a metallic silver lipstick and the caption "#sneekpeekofmynextMACproject" could allude to the reasoning for her sudden color change (though we all know Rih Rih is no stranger to sudden color changes).

The "navy" of Rihanna fans have been known to jump on any new style she's sporting -- so will we see a return of the grey-on-purpose trend we saw in 2012? Either way, best to be prepared with possible techniques, blends, styles and formulas. Here are a few to get you started, plus some past celeb silver styles to get you inspired.

At age 27, Kelly said going grey was "something I've wanted to do my whole life. I've always wanted to be young and have grey hair." click image to zoomWireImageHow can your client define her look as "granny chic" instead of "granny eek"? Encouraging the right products to tame frizz is a start, but some carefully orchestrated makeup application wouldn't hurt, either. Show her some shots of the U.K. "X Factor" winner for a little inspiration.

Would you recommend it to a client who is flirting with the idea of going grey?
