01/17/2011 2:04:17 PM

Jacquelyn Sasso, a member of Panico Salon and Spa in Caldwell, New Jersey, for four years, is an emerging new professional in the beauty industry. Her work in hair and make-up has been featured nationally on The Maury Povich Show, at the Vera Wang Bridal Show, and recently at New Jersey Fashion Week.

MS: What do you specialize in?
JS: I love to create amazing colors, cuts, hair styles and beautiful faces with make-up. But, what I really think I specialize in is hair cut makeovers. When clients ask to be made over you get free range to do what you want!

MS: What is your favorite part about working in the beauty industry?
JS: The ability to make someone’s day. You can change somebody’s entire mood just by giving them a great hair day.

MS: What are your latest projects?
JS: I, along with my team at Panico Salon and Spa did the hair and makeup for NJ Fashion Week! I also did make-up for Vivienne Mackinder at the Intercoiffure with a co-worker.

MS: What do you do to stay up-to-date on new trends in hair?
JS: Luckily the salon I am with has an amazing education program. We meet every Tuesday night for classes (this includes our intern staff all the way up to our top stylists). We have Sassoon educators teach us hair cuts and techniques. I’ve also gone to Temptu in the city to get certified for airbrush make-up, which has truly changed the way of modern make-up.

MS: What are your career goals in five years from now? 10 years?
JS: In five years I hope to at least triple my amount of clients and have a wider range of ages. I also hope to do another photoshoot for MODERN SALON within the next few years. In 10 years, I would love to have the cover of MODERN!
