Paul Nasrallah puts the finishing touches on our cover model.
Sonya and Christopher Dove consult to visualize the end result of their Blaze model. "She is perfect!” said Sonya Dove to fellow Wella Creative Director Christopher Dove and Wella international top stylist Paul Nasrallah as she ran her fingers through her model’s short, high-lifted locks. “She will make the perfect lighter base version of Blaze.”
Dove was referring to the Wella Blaze trend, introduced at the most recent International Trend Vision Awards as an important color design and silhouette for 2012. “This look is for someone very seductive and self confident,” said Nasrallah. “The color and shape is strong, but Blaze can carry it off.”
The Doves and Nasrallah met at The Doves Studio in Santa Monica, California, for the prep work. The salon was the perfect setting as the trio transformed two models for their interpretation of the trend. It was a full day of shooting after Behind the March 2012 Cover unfortunate model drama. The short-haired model Ayden arrived as planned, bright and early, but the pre-booked long-haired model cancelled at the last minute. “We’ll make it work,” said Christopher Dove while he and Wella PR executive Megan Newell frantically called model agencies in Los Angeles. By 3 p.m., model Crystal arrived and the team got busy.
By 7 p.m., the team, including photographer Roberto Ligresti, packed up their bags to get some rest before the 8 a.m. call time the following day at the Wella headquarters in Woodland Hills, California, where they created the beautiful images seen on our cover and on page 94.
