COLLECTION: Elements of Style

"Elements of Style" – the natural elements of air, earth, fire and water – inspired this collection by Bella Bethesda Salon, located in Bethesda, Maryland. The collection was featured in the salon’s bi-annual runway hair show “Hair to Heal,” which benefited women undergoing cancer treatment.

Air: Air embodies life, breath and soul. Despite its tame and contemplative nature, it is not to be underestimated. A sunrise and sunset inspired this whimsical look. (Hair by: Abby Whalen and Courtney Sims, Make-up by: Gloria Garcia) Earth: Earth embodies femininity, fertility, and stability. It is associated with the physical body and provides a stable and nurturing foundation for all stages of life. Mother Nature herself inspired the neutral colors and organic accents of this look. Fire: Fire embodies masculinity, willpower, and energy. Its ability to heal, harm, create, or destroy makes it the most dynamic and volatile of the elements. The flame plays the muse for this vibrant and edgy look. (Hair by: Katie May, Make-up by: Crystal Cabrera) Water: Water possesses the ability to cleanse, purify, and heal. The cascade of blue and white mirrors the constant motion of the sea and its creatures in this look. (Hair by: Indira Dahan, Make-up by: Jami Funk-Wilbanks)
