click image to zoom "I was in the mood for change," says make-up artist Michelle Phan, a vlogger who has created a cult following on her YouTube channel for her incredible make-up tutorial videos.

"I wanted to find a colorist who specialized in Asian hair because Asian hair texture can be very challenging to work with, especially when trying to lighten it. I found 'ombre expert' Guy Tang on Yelp, and he gave me a magical coloring session," she says in her YouTube video updating her followers on changes in her life, and appearance.

It took eight hours, she says, but with beautiful results like this, it's easy to see why.

"Guy Tang is a painter meets chemist," she says. "This guy understands beauty. He colored my hair in a way that contours my face. You know how we contour with make-up? Guy does that with hair. The brows frame the eyes, but the hair frames the face."

Tang, who is a hair designer at Salon Republic in West Hollywood California, uses ISO Hair Color and has developed a reputation as an "ombre expert," and as a killer educator through his own YouTube channel where he teaches high-contrast ombres and how to get Victoria's Secret curls.
