Hair, make-up and fashion: Hollianne Ames
Photography: Ken Ames

Anytime we post any brights and vivids on our Facebook wall, our fans (LOVE YOU!) flip out with excitement and questions on formulation.

We were so excited when MODERN Facebook fan Hollianne Ames shared her multi-hued hawk she created at her Revolution A Hair Movement salon in New Jersey.

The model was a starting Level 4 patched with some blue and green with layers and layers of color. (She's my assistant and color junkie!" Ames says.)

"We pre-lightened her with Paul Mitchell Synchro Lift and 40-volume developer and a second round of lightening with 30-volume developer to really get her to that desired yellow."

The bright colors are all Pravana Vivids in Magenta and Violet, mixed with a little Magenta, Yellow. "I mixed the blue and green to make a Jade-like color, and the fifth color was Paul Mitchell 8A PM shines to make her a little silver."

WE WANT TO SEE YOUR WORK! Want to be modernsalon.com's next featured artist? Send your work, and info on how you did it (color formulas, steps on styling or cutting method, etc) to MODERN's Editor in Chief Alison Alhamed aalhamed@vancepublishing.com.
