Shades of rouge are red hot in the
celebrity stratosphere right now. Are
you ready to copy these trendy hues
when your clients request them?
"Reds are head turners," says
Grace Nowitzky, director of education
operations for Rusk. "Colorists
customize reds according to how
intense or subtle the client wants
to look, as well as to complement
her eye and skin tones."

Here are two hot red options for
your crimson-loving clients:
1. Natural-looking copper/strawberry
blondes like Nicole Kidman.
"Long, flowing layers are in right
now and natural tones suit that
perfectly," says Michael Aaron
Capps of michaelaaronstyle.com.
2. Avant-garde reds in mahogany
and violet shades with deep, cool
tones like Debra Messing. "For fall,
if you want to go from one of the
light reds to a middle red, you can
achieve that dimension by dropping
about two tonal shades darker,"
says Capps. "Do micro lowlights
on top and heavier lowlights underneath
to create a texturized color
look. Then apply a glaze to protect
it and keep the color fresh.
