These three styles by Los Angeles-based editorial stylist Christi Cagle reflect updated versions of iconic styles from the ’30s, ’50s and ’70s. Along with make-up artist Barbara Elizabeth Frary and photographer Crystal Cartier, the trio found inspiration in pop culture, fashion and music of the past to recreate a super short, Art Deco look from old Hollywood, an asymmetric bob inspired by ’50s-era musical girl groups and an exaggerated side-swept, disco-glam Afro from the ’70s. Make-up was kept neutral and soft to accentuate chiseled facial features and strong hair shapes.
