One in every four women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. That staggering statistic is the reason why Empire Beauty Schools will once again host its annual National Day of Beauty, a system-wide fundraising initiative to support the victims of domestic abuse on a local level.

On Saturday, October 9th each of Empire's 100 school locations will open its doors to women, men and children of all ages for hair cuts, coloring, nail services and more. 100 percent of the proceeds from those beauty services will benefit local domestic violence shelters in each school's community. Empire students are selling $5 service cards to customers to be redeemed the day of the event, which means that clients will receive services at a fraction of the already discounted student salon prices. Walk-ins are also welcome. To date, Empire Gives Back and the National Day of Beauty program has raised more than $250,000 to support local shelters, and aid in the fight against domestic violence.

Empire's National Day of Beauty  "Beyond fundraising and local shelter support, we have incorporated an educational platform into the Empire curriculum to train our students how to recognize the signs of domestic abuse," says Franklin K. Schoeneman, CEO, Empire Education Group. "This is an epidemic that surprisingly often reveals itself in the chair of a stylist.  Whether through a shared confidence or visible signs of abuse, hairdressers are often faced with this issue and without training, are unsure how to respond. I am proud to say that our students are equipped with the information they need to comfortably point victims to the National Domestic Violence Hotline."

The schools also support their local shelters throughout the year with additional fundraisers and free salon services and educational endowments for residents.

Also in support of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Empire is joining forces with Judge Jeanine Pirro, who is on the National Domestic Violence Hotline's celebrity advisory board. Judge Pirro will help Empire raise awareness for its National Day of Beauty, and appear in a public service announcement with Empire Chairman and CEO Franklin Schoeneman to further educate the public about this issue. NDVH is the nation's non-profit organization that provides intervention, information and help to victims of domestic violence, families and friends. Over the last 15 years, the hotline has received more than two million calls from abused women and families in crisis.
