A Polished Look

CND is one of the largest  sponsors of New York Fashion Week, and Jan Arnold, CND co-founder, is often seen either backstage or in the front row. This past season, Arnold and her team created 65 fresh nail looks for top designers. Her five favorites.

Arnold expects nails to be red hot this fall. "One of my favorite looks is a bright siren red paired with unexpected red eyeliner," as seen at Katy Rodriguez, she says. "I loved the smoky-shaded clothing, make-up and accessories this season," says Arnold. "We saw so many variations of charcoal and dove gray in collections around the globe that we were inspired to custom blend a Nordic gray crème that appeared on the runways of Costello Tagliapietra, Ben de Lisi and Catherine Malandrino."

Every season there's a new "black," and in fall 2008 it looks like it's gray. "This urban chic statement was made using a metallic charcoal seen on nails at Louis Vuitton, Behnaz Serafpour and Lyn Devon." "Brazen autumn-shaded nails are one of the fiercest color trends for fall," says Arnold. "This opulent claret nail color seen here, supplemented the luxurious fabrics and regal accoutrements at Carolina Herrera and Bill Blass."

Jewel-toned nails were another hot trend all over the runways. "These bold feminine colors combined with heavy eye shadow in peacock blues will help every client tap into her inner dark side," says Arnold. This deep teal was seen on the runway at Monique Lhuillier.
