"Textured hair is NOT about race or ethnicity," says Tippi Shorter, Aveda's Global Creative Artistic Director for Texture. "It's about hair texture." Shorter joined the Aveda team recently, but admits she has been using the Be Curly line for months on her celebrity clients (including  Alicia Keys, Rihanna and Jennifer Hudson).

Among her favorite products are Be Curly Curl Controller, "which elongates, hydrates and softens the hair...all while offering amazing shine," she says. For the Superbowl half time show (Beyonce and Destiny's Child), Shorter shares how she had to use "a lot of Control Force to keep all that dancing and swinging hair in place!"

Shorter herself has some pretty fab curls. Half way through the interview she offers how she gets her own big chunky ringlets (it involves using four big twists on hair that has been "texturized" twice a year).

"But on top of that I use Aveda products on my own hair. I really just love the entire line," she says. "I'm so happy to be part of the Aveda team."
