The Intercoiffure 2014 Spring Symposium wrapped up this week after offering great education and inspiration to all. Held at the famed Boca Raton Resort and Club in Boca Raton, Florida, the 3 day event kept hundreds of Intercoiffure America/Canada (ICA) enthralled.

BUSINESS HIGHLIGHTS: Among the many highlights were presentations including “Living Your Life as a DayMaker” from David Wagner,  “Doing Business in the Age of Now” from Bart Foreman,“Stylists and Owners, Do You Want to Make More Money” from Reg Laws, PR at Partners and “How to Make Money With Cosmetics” from ICA Make-up Director Lori Neapolitano. MODERN’s Publisher Steve Reiss presented “The State of the Industry Report” comparing and contrasting the professional salon world to other industries offering ways to incorporate best practices into our own world.

MAKEOVERS: One of the most buzzed about segments was called “Making Money With Makeovers” presented by the ICA Haircolor Council including Sonya Dove and Belinda Gambuzza.

BEAUTY HIGHLIGHTS: If you came to the symposium for great hair, you were in luck. The program started with a presentation from Shirley Gordon and Christopher and Sonya Dove (sponsored by Wella) called “Up Close with Creative Intelligence”.  This was followed by a presentation by the TIGI Artistic Team, led by Domenico Tomei, Joel Torres and Kimberly Anderson. Hairdreams then sponsored The Cutting Council presentation led by Amy Michleb, ICA Haircutting Director, with Cutting Council Woody Michleb, John Gialluisi and David Kinigson.

ICA NOUVEAU GROUP: “Moderno-Mad & Mod Nouveau Style” was a breathtaking segment from the ICA Nouveau Group, led by Perry Monge. The presentation culminated in the announcement of Audrey Flynn as the winner of the competition.

SPRING TRENDS: Vivienne Mackinder, ICA Fashion Director,  earned a standing ovation with her “New Wave” spring trend collection show.

ALTERNATIVE CLASSICS: The grand finale was the ICA Artistic Team Presentation of “Alternative Classics”. Mary Brunetti, Artistic Director and team members Sherri Jesse, Faatemah Ampey and Shirley Gordon offered their latest collection

HANDS ON CLASSES: Workshops were held during the symposium, including the Cutting Class with TIGI Academy and the Color Techniques calls with the ICA Hair Color Council.
