The Morrison Academy and Morrison Hair is a beautifully situated space along the Pacific Coast Highway in the heart of Laguna Beach, California. Owner James Morrison uses the space on Tuesday through Saturday for clients, and Sunday and Monday for education...either for staff or for any of his fellow L'Oreal Professionnel members.
It is the education that is most dear to Morrison. "Frank Lloyd Wright is one of my heros," he says. "As he got older, he mentored. That is what I am doing here. My strength is cutting, so not only do I work with clients, but I deliver education. I train my team and other hairdressers as well in this facility."
Sharing his expertise is important for Morrison who is known for his techniques that can be tweaked to be more consumer friendly or more aggressive. His "Foundation of Four" program is a two day cutting seminar where up to 12 hairdressers learn 4 looks than can be tailored for the individual client. "These techniques offer a classic approach to haircutting," he says. "We break down each section of the hair CUT....not the overall haircut. It is quite precise, exact and focused. It is called 'Follow The Leader'."
His partnership with L'Oreal Professionnel has enabled Morrison to share his knowledge with a group of like minded professionals. "What I like is that we align our education team with L'Oreal Professionnel values. It is all about one team, one voice, one message. It works beautifully."
