THE EVENT: KPSS Together, the first National Conference uniting the professional teams from both KPSS brands-Goldwell and KMS California. THE VENUE: The Renaissance Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.

THE DETAILS: More than 300 team members from Goldwell and KMS gathered to share an overview of the business initiatives and goals of their parent company. The four days of combined motivation and social events brought the teams together, while a portion of each day was devoted to brand-specific breakout sessions for educators and sales consultants. The Goldwell Team was introduced to the company's Color Cycle- a program of in-salon and at-home services aimed at ensuring Perfect Color. Part of this introduction was a first glance at the new Color Glow IQ, a color maintenance and styling line that hit salons in May. Goldwell also launched the 2008 national Trend Zoom Color Challenge, the winners of which will travel to Valencia, Spain for the international competition this summer. KMS launched its new tag line-Express Yourself-reflecting the young, hip California spirit of the brand and announced extensions for the Sol Perfecting line and the return of the popular Sea Salt Spray and Hair Play. Team members also learned about the new KPSS Salon Alliance that will unite Goldwell and KMS salons in one program with various purchasing levels and common KPSS resources. Goldwell and KMS educator awards were presented at the gala "Rockmantic" cocktail reception, dinner, after-party and runway show.

THE BUZZ: Style and fashion ruled with the introduction of the Goldwell 2008 Trend Zoom Contra Collection and a presentation outlining the trend-forecasting process. A knockout presentation by the Goldwell North American team focused on the "Rockmantic" and "Newstalgia" trends from the collection. KMS introduced its new Hollywood-themed style campaign and Global Creative Director Kaycee Clark and artistic team member Anh Tran demonstrated the cuts that made them style stars at the recent Sundance Film Festival.

THE LAST WORD: Guests heard words of encouragement, motivation and gratitude for their dedication from company executives Mario Argenti, president and CEO of KPSS North America, Brian Ahrens, president KPSS Canada and Thomas Dieckhoff, CEO/chairman of KPSS GmbH, who traveled from Germany to acknowledge the successes of both teams. Argenti advised, "We must be number one for the customer, not ourselves. Set goals. Use the talents you already have and be a positive realist."
