Identical twins. Identical hair cuts. Eleven styling options. In this exclusive collection, Aquage Master Artist Shawna Parvin blurs the lines between masculine and feminine, hard and soft, and proves that a hair cut doesn’t have to lock a client into a style. Short hair offers just as much versatility as long, when the right styling products and tools are at your fingertips.
The cut, which features graduation in the back and sides, has a horseshoe-shaped section on top that retains length for styling versatility. Parvin reinvents the texture of this section by using Aquage styling products to alter where the silhouette expands, where the emphasis of the cut is, and where it drapes or lays flat.
Expansion in the crown combined with texture preserves a feminine finish, while expansion in the front creates an illusion of masculinity.
Alvarez recommends the non-aerosol, firm-hold Aquage Working Spray when styling short hair, because of the few extra seconds before the product locks in and dries allows for finger-tousling to create the perfect texture. Aquage Transforming Paste, he says, is ideal for changing the level of hold to make the hair more flexible, especially when cocktailed with SeaExtend Silkening Oil on dry hair (traditionally a blow dry product) to soften the paste’s hold. When a thermal iron is used, Aquage Beyond Shine maintains flexibility and pliability, and relaxes the thermally created patterns.
