The 2012 Urban Art Collection, assembled by the Matrix Artistic Directors, showcases looks expressed through a variety of grand, bold and very public media, taking root on city streets in open display. MODERN SALON Media was granted exclusive access to the finishes created by Ammon Carver, who was challenged to source the urban landscape for inspiration.

The result, shown here, is a collection of invigorating and inspiring finishes reflecting the energy, individuality, vibrancy and rhythm of the city.

“Light Writing was my concept,” Carver says. “It’s a photographic art form using a slow shutter lens to capture the movement of the light with tracers—the same technique used to capture cityscapes with moving lights, rarely used for hair photography.” Carver made that movement even more interesting by embedding animated slashes of vivid blues, violets and magentas on precolored wefts, which were blended in to the moonlit blonde base. Luminous Cream Lightener was used for the canvas, while Logics Primary Concentrates in blue and red produced the powerful accent hues.
