For years, Kenra has been known for its wide range of hair care and styling products—but now, with the launch of Kenra Color, salons will have access to 70 shades of low-ammonia permanent color and 40 shades of ammonia-free demipermanent color. As with each launch, the color is backed by education and training from its Professional Artistic Team, under the direction of Artistic Director Robb Dubre.

“This year, it’s all about creating seamless color, that doesn’t take hours,” says Dubre, who created the color seen on these pages of MODERN. “Colorists today do not have time to put in hundreds of foils, and most clients don’t have that time to wait for application and processing.”

To offer a simple and quick service, Dubre utilized the model’s existing highlights but added more depth at the base, using a shade deeper than her natural shade, and blending out to stronger lift at the tips using a high-lift powder lightener. “It’s a new fresh look,” he says. “It’s taking the extreme ombre and giving it a gentle 2012 spin.”

For the cut, Phil Salmon of the French Pharmacy salon in Indianapolis continued with the seamless theme. “This blended color deserved some blended shape,” he says. “I point cut to soften, then I slide cut down the sides to remove weight over her shoulder and to create a layering system down the side.”
