Heath Grout, TIGI Artistic Director, is all about capturing images designed to inspire the salon professional. When we asked Grout what he would do for an exclusive MODERN collection, he said, using a collection of long-haired and short-haired models, “let’s do something to make a statement for 2012.”

Creating the hair designs was Thomas Osborn, TIGI Academy and Education Director with nishing assistance from Christopher Catanese, Academy Educator and model co-ordinator.

“These two looks represent extremes,” said Osborn as he put the finishing touches on his ‘mod’ inspired shorter design. “This blonde silhouette is precise with a '60s feel, but a look that has been modernized. The longer look is effortless, easy and consumer friendly.”

Grout photographed the finishes in black and white because this style gives a classic feel to a photo shoot’s mood. “I like to set a tone and feeling with my photography,” he says. “The team’s storyboard reflected a strong feeling with the natural textures from what we see in the street. So I chose a dark backdrop and a concentrated light source to bring out the mood of what the team was seeing.”
