Two decades of in-salon cut, color and styling talents joined editorial fantasy when Stephen Adams, JPMS senior associate and owner of Moxie Salon in Minneapolis, won a Paul Mitchell photo shoot contest with his Pin Up to Pop collection.
Contest judge and contestant mentor Luci Doughty coached Adams who created a portfolio combining past work with inspirations that ranged from the proper 1940s to the pumped up 1980s.
“I entered this contest to challenge myself,” says Adams. “I’ve always focused on cutting and color. It was time to push myself with styling."
"For this shoot, I was inspired by soft, circular shape—40s inspired with 80’s sharpness," Adams explains.
Adams used Paul Mitchell Thicken Up and Extra Body Sculpting Foam to design elaborate, highly textured styles.
He then armed himself with Paul Mitchell Extra Body Finishing Spray and Hold Me Tight to keep the high flying looks airborne.
