Pin Curls are BACK! Get the How ToMODERN Facebook fan Najah Aziz, owner and stylist at Like the River The Salon in Atlanta, Georgia, created these beautiful pin curls and posted this image on our Facebook wall--once we saw it, we KNEW we had to track down the how to.

To begin, the hair is shampooed and molded in a finger wave pattern with foam and then the hair is wrapped in strips.

Place the client under the dryer until completely dry. "Our favorite oil is Madinah Oil, a grapeseed-base with other essential oils," Aziz says. Massage the oil all over the hair to the ends. "The oil makes the hair moveable while pin curling and waving."

A 1/2-inch flatiron is used--Aziz prefers the HAI Twig.

The sides and back: At 400 degrees, the curls are curled on base and then dragged in a sliding motion with fingers or with the iron before releasing the curl.

The top: Take about 1/4-inch sections and curl hair in a circular motion then place into pin curl. The hair is slightly finger combed through the sides and back. Only spray the top with a spritz.
