BEFORE AND AFTER: Colorist Rescues Client From Buying Home ColorMODERN Facebook fan Megan Allen, a hairdresser at Salon 29:11 in Smithfield, North Carolina, spotted a woman at a beauty store about to attempt to color her hair on her own at home.

"I knew I had to rescue her," she says. "Now she is in love with her hair!"

Here's how she did it:

First pre-lighten the hair with Joico Vero KPAK blue lightener with 20-volume Vero developer. "I started at the mid-shaft and then applied the bleach through the scalp and the ends last," she says.

After shampooing, the next step was toning. "I used 1oz. of Joico Toner TSB and a 1/2 oz. of Joico toner TPB and 1 1/2 oz. of Joico Vero Glaze developer."

After shampooing and conditioning, she styled the hair using a 1" barrel curling iron and then separated the curls to give it a nice soft wave.
