“For Danielle my goal is to achieve a natural regrowth look,” says Freeman. “I want depth at the scalp but without a dramatic, huge regrowth look.” To best achieve this, Freeman used a bottle baliage technique, applying a darker shade to the two inches closest to the scalp, and a slightly lighter shade to the balance of the section. “I just want to bring it down a notch,” she continues. “It’s very simple but can make a big difference.”
MODERN invited Redken Artist and International Colorist Leah Freeman into our studios to demonstrate the beauty of the freshly launched Redken Shades EQ Cream. “It’s the new technology that makes this product special,” she says. “It’s a demipermanent and offers a great viscosity making it a perfect product for baliage and lowlighting—especially for colorists who like to mix and match.” For this session, we offered two models: Danielle with over-processed pale blonde locks and Arianna with regrowth and faded highlights.
