Celebrity Stylist Marie Ferro has created numerous makeovers on her clients, both young and old. In this makeover, she added a bit of warmth to give this mature client's skin a youthful glow. She also added a rich undertone with lowlights to put color back into the skin. "With the invention of HD Television everything shows on my celebrity clients now more than ever. Color detailing the tonal range in the hair is very important," she says. "They want to see the hair pop off the screen." This client started with Level 5 roots and Level 10 ends. Ferro started by clarifying the hair with Malibu C before applying the color.

Why do you apply base and wait to apply HL until color processes. Wouldn't it be easier to apply at same time? Is it just a preference situation?

Jenna: doing the base with the highlight will get it to a lighter level without long processing of lightened. Also, it will help achieve a more consistent blonde from root to ends over the entire head.
