HOW-TO: La Toya Jackson's "Reverse Ombre" Hair Color

Celebrity hair stylist Kimmi Hendrix recently created La Toya Jackson's "Reverse Ombre” hair color. To achieve the cut, Hendrix created long layers for added volume and bounce to the hair.

THE COLOR

STEP 1: Hendrix first shampooed with IT&LY's Advanced Color Protection Chelating Shampoo to remove any traces of oils or product build-up followed by spritzing the hair with 2 Phase Hydrashine to even the porosity.

STEP 2: After drying the hair, she sectioned, separating the nape from the rest of the hair and applying IT&LY's Colorly 2020 2N (Darkest Brown) to the nape area mixed with equal parts of Oxily 2020 Developer (20 Volume) to darken the area for contrast.

STEP 3: She then applied Colorly 2020 6N (Dark Blonde) to the remaining crown, sides and top also mixed with equal parts of Oxily 2020 Developer (20 Volume).

STEP 4: To create the "Reverse Ombre" tones, Hendrix sculpted uneven sections at the top 2-3 inches from the scalp area and thinner sections throughout the crown lightening them with IT&LY's Easily Blonde Lightening Powder and 30 Volume Oxily Developer 2020.

STEP 5: Hendrix processed the lightening to what she refers to as "banana yellow" then toning with Colorly 2020 SSA (Silver Superlight) and 10 volume Oxily 2020 Developer.
