MODERN SALON Director of Education and SHOP MODERN Artist Jamie Carroll led a workshop at Premiere Orlando 2014 to show stylists 10 fast, effective updos for various occasions. Carroll used SHOP MODERN SALON accessories in many of his styles that would be fitting and weddings and other sparkle-worthy occasions.

STEP 1: Create a high ponytail and secure with your method of choice; Carroll used a clear elastic band with bobby pins on either side for maximum security.

STEP 2: Obtain and tuck hair padding in front of the ponytail, on top of the head, with bobby pins.

STEP 3: Brush the pony up and over the padding and pin.

STEP 4: Push hair over on both sides of the padding until it is not visible. Pin as needed and use a finishing spray.

Pro tip: To smooth fiesty flyaways, spray a firm hold hairspray on a powder make-up brush and then brush over the hair, almost as if you're painting it.
