Shades of Siren

Fashion and beauty photographer Jim Malucci and Creative Director Tim Ravenna came together under a united vision to create an underworld masterpiece that encapsulates mystery and beauty.

This how-to will teach you the steps on how to give your clients a showstopper “mystical mermaid” look. Working with Hypnotik Hair, taking inspiration and classic glamor from the series Magic City and intertwining with fantasy, visonary artist, runway stylist and hair product consultant Jean Marc Choffel shows us how to get the looks. (Choffel also added hats to each style, which you can see in the photos.)

STEP 1: Prep hair when wet with  volume moose. Apply at roots and work through the ends.

STEP 2: Apply 1-2 pumps of Hypnotik Hair serum into hair applying mid-length to ends and work back through to the root.

STEP 3: Blow dry hair with fingers until it's 80 percent dry. Section hair into four sections and continue to blow dry with a concentrator nozzle. Continue blow drying with a round brush and pin. Follow by curling the hair with a one-inch curling iron to achieve waves and finger waves.

STEP 2: Blow dry hair with fingers until it's 80 percent dry. Section hair into four sections and continue to blow dry with a concentrator nozzle. Continue blow drying with round brush and pin.

STEP 3: Once hair is dry, use a 2-inch barrel curling iron with large sections and pin to set.
Once cool, take out pins and brush for smoothness, volume and and tuck under wave into a faux bob.

STEP 4: Once hair is dry, use a 2-inch barrel curling iron with large sections and pin to set. Back comb the hair at the root, smooth with comb over hair and apply a dollop of Hypnotik Hair serum.

STEP 5: With a large swoop, wrap and tuck hair under where one eye is hidden. Pin with flat pins. Then smooth out over hair with the back of your heated flatiron to ensure there are no stray hairs.
