Fully explained and demonstrated this creative color technique is suitable for intermediate and advanced levels of experience. Here, Hughes offers steps on how to achieve the look pictured.

STEP 1: Section a square panel at the top part of the head and then section diamonds within the square.

STEP 2: The diamond sections are clearly shown below. These sections will be pre-lightened first to enable us to deposit creative color as a feature color in these areas.

STEP 3:
Pre-lighten by taking back to back foil slices to de-colourize the hair first.

STEP 4:
Allow the pre-lightening sections to process. By leaving the square section on the top, this will create a more natural veil of color falling over the feature color.

STEP 5: Separate out your lightened diamond sections again to begin the creative color application.

STEP 6: Taking fine back to back slices working with diagonal sections. Start at the front working towards the back of the diamond. You can choose to alternate as many colors as your personal preference. In this case we have chosen three colors.

STEP 7: Taking fine back to back slices working with diagonal sections. Start at the front working towards the back of the diamond. You can choose to alternate as many colors as your personal preference. In this case we have chosen three colors.

STEP 8: Finish.
