Lighter, brighter days translates to lighter, brighter color for your clients. It seems the change in seasons welcomes highlights, dimensional lifting and contouring with lights and brights. In this how-to featured in the April issue of MODERN SALON, It&ly Hairfashion artist Pasquale Caselle creates a sexy, rooty blonde that screams summer.

The Vision:
Summer hair is about simplicity—using two or three different tones in the same color family to achieve a beautiful effect rather than extreme contrasts.
Keep clients’ roots two shades darker than ends, graduating through midshaft for a natural glow.
The Formula and Application:
Natural/base: Level 7 dark blonde
Formula A: Intense Blonde SSD Colorly 20/20 with 30-volume Oxily 20/20 Developer
Formula B: Easily Blond 20/20 Bleaching powder with 40-volume Oxily 20/20 Developer
Step 1: Quickly apply Formula A all over head; process for 30 minutes
Step 2: After 15 minutes of processing Formula A, highlight with slices of Formula B, with one-inch spaces between sections taken diagonally from front to back.
Step 3: Process, shampoo and style.
