Nick Arrojo and James Edick, of the Arrojo Studio in NYC, created a beautiful cut and color shown on pages 130 - 133 of Modern's April 2013 issue. The shoot took place at the salon in the SOHO area of NYC just a couple months ago. As we were breaking down the set, Modern asked Nick and James to give a brief overview of the look on tape.

"I wanted to create lots of asymmetry," says Nick. "This cut has undercutting, lots of length and lots of shorter pieces throughout."

James Edick says that knowing as much about the cut beforehand (and that collaboration in general) is important. "Knowing it was going to be asymmetrical, I had to go asymmetrical with the color," says James. "I created a large, off center, football shape area for the highlights." Edick used three different shades in the foils: highlift blonde, lightener and a third caramel shade. "I really packed up the foils in the football shape," he says, "and then finished with a level 8 gold glaze."

While the breakdown of the look on the pages of the magazine, including steps, is quite comprehensive, this video gives a 360 degree view of the color and cut. It's worth the 2 minutes and 11 sesconds to see the color and shape SUPER close up.
