Super cute short hair isn’t always wash and run, one of the challenges of creating a cropped coif is natural growth patterns are more evident. Andrew Carruthers, Director of Education for Sam Villa, demonstrates how to blow dry short hair.

Carruthers recommends "using a Sam Villa Professional Ionic Blow Dryer because it’s small, light and powerful, and a comb instead of a brush to better redirect growth patterns and smooth wave configurations." Prep with Redken satinwear 02 blow dry lotion for softness and shine and mix a bit of Redken All Soft Argan-6 Oil to reduce frizz and make the finish smooth and silky.

PRO TIPS: Always start with wet hair that has not started to dry, otherwise growth patterns will take over increasing the finishing time. If hair has started to dry, just spritz it. Use a Sam Villa Short Cutting Comb – the wide side allows for good direction and the fine side provides great tension. Remember to utilize the spine of the comb for maximum polish. Blow dry in an X pattern to redirect, shape and style hair – think directionally and remember that both heat and tension are the keys to a good blow dry.
